Summer? Workout Time!

Summer's here, and having a brand new gorgeous body isn't EVER out of season. So why not hit the gym?

Okay, so all winter/spring, you know how we do...We're so lazy, cuddling on the couch, and drinking a cup of hot cocoa. But now that summer is here, the tanks, and shorty shorts come out...we all want a toned sexy body.

So what's your plan?

To get stronger?
To get lean?
To lose weight?
To be more flexibe?
More relaxed/stess less?

Well, mine (and most people) is LOSE WEIGHT. AHHH!

During the holidays, when we eat sooo much, I gained about 10 pounds. Yikes! I know:/

And ever since then, I haven't had a chance to lose it. At school, there was test, homework, and I couldn't even have time to hit the gym. So, my goal, is over the span of about 2 months (summerrrr) , I want to lose 10 pounds.

Losing 10 pounds would bring me to an about 115 lbs. But the funny thing, is that I guess my body won't let me lose more than about 113. But that's okay!

Last summer, about the time I started the blog, I actually did a lot of things with fitness and food, and I want to get back to that.

So here is my workout plan (that last summer, lost me about 10-15 lbs.) ..and hopefully, it'll make me lose some pounds too!:

-TREADMILL. Run run run! This was basically my "secret" to having a toned bod. (I miss my health conscious freak ! haha) . If you can't run 2 miles straight, then I suggest working yourself there. Yesterday, I only ran 1 mile, and today I plan to run 5 laps or 1.25 miles.

-PILATES. I want to try some ab moves or things, because I really want to work on my abs this summer. I've tried Pilates, and it truly feels amazing! So maybe I'll just check out some videos online, or hit my community center. If Pilates is a bit too fast paced for you, then yoga is an amazing alternative!

-Maybe AB BOOTCAMP here and there? Last summer I did the Billy Banks Ab Bootcamp everyday, and I think that was what contributed to my weight loss. So, I really want to try that up again...It's fun too!

-THA PARK. Oh my! I want to go to the park MORE with all my friends this summer, go and there, play some soccer, tennis, go swimming all that jazz! And plus, when you talk to friends, or have fun with friends, you don't even realize your working out!

-WATER. Atleast 8 glasses of water EVERYDAY. You'll have amazinggg skin, and especially during the summer, it's so important to stay hydrated.

My birthday is coming up in July, and we are all having a little "reunion" in July, so I want to be fit as possible in time for that! I want you guys to join along!

I hope this helps you guys much! (:

TODAY: 12/26/10 (how my dare is going)

12/26/10

FIRST DAY!

Mood: Excited to see if I actually get my flat abs....and scared! haha

FIRST DAYY! Boy here we go! My food plan is going 'so far so good', I ate healthy, no junk food yet...I had some protein from an omelet, had some oatmeal, and some multigrain cheerios for a snack (without milk), just some in my hand.

I had a full lunch, I'm chewing gum (trying to close my mouth so I don't make me bloat with air) haha, but gum is the only thing that's keeping me from eating more

Ummm, let see........so today we have a treadmill session and pilates ughh :/

It's gonna be good, I know I can do it! MUSIC, GUM, and my head up determined, I can run it baby!

Is this your goal too? send me an email! or comment!

Love, from a happy girl!

**EDIT**

Hi guys! So I decided I do a 'daily report' on how my food plan and workouts are going so far in the day...I hope you don't mind, but I'm just gonna log in my calories and foods here, so feel freee to just skip it! ha ha ha!

Morning: Banana - 100 cal
11:00 : cheerios- 50
biscuits- 60

total: 210

Lunch: Beans: 36 cal
Rice: 400 cal (UGH) --(it was at a restaurant!) really good!
Omelet: 120 (just egg)
Something else: 100 ?

TOTAL: (ugh. here we go!) : 650
WOOOO! that's wayyy too much!

But here's EVEN worse!:

SNACK: Biscuits- 120
Grapes- 150
Yogurt- 80
Other 'crap' - 60

Total: 410

Oh mann!

TOTAL SO FAR: 1270
man!

Well, I have to do Pilates now, for about an hour (hopefully) and that'll burn about 50 calories (pilates is more toning) and then I gotta hit the gym to burn AT LEAST 150 cal there. So 200 peeled off, but hopefully I'll get to burning 300 calories all together tonight.

How am I going to burn 300 calories (maybe)?

First- it all depends on your weight
Right now, I'm probably 117, or 115

Weight: 117

Pilates (beginner): 45 minutes - 147 calories
Treadmill - 1 mile at 4.9mph (yeah, I know, I'm lazy!) - 75 (only for 10 minutes) WOW ...GO PILATES! haha ...but I NEED the cardio to be in there...
Elliptical: Cardio intervals things, 30 minute- 302 DANGGG!!! GO ELLIPITCAL!

AND THE GRAND TOTAL ISS: 524!
PEELED RIGHT OFF!
Now what ifff...I do 45 min. of ELLIPITICAL but no running?

WOOWWW! OFF THE HOOK!

If I do Pilates (beginner) which burns 147 for me, and then do ellipitcal for 45 minutes, I get 453, combine, I burned 600 dang calories!

I HEART THE ELLIPTICAL! haha

It says: If I run the treadmill for 45 minutes, I BURN 337
But if I do Ellipitcal for 45 mintues I BURN 453

That's about a 100 calories difference! so I mean....it adds up!
So I guess you really gotta love the ellipitical!

Hmm, one more thing! I didn't know this...well I kinda did..but not exactly..
CARDIO blasts 10-12 calories per minute...while ab exercises (e.g. crunches, sit ups..) burn ....much less than that....sorry! but the main point, is that you need cardio to blast all that fat, and then the ab exercises are to tone the abs...

I'm gonna hit the gym at 7:00...and like yesterday, it had on drake and josh, so you were too busy laughing so you didn't even feel like working your legs, but there was like sweat all over me! haha

so wish me luck! I think today's gonna be even better! oh elliptical...how I love you!

Byee guys!

TRACK/TREADMILL ESSENTIALS

So I finally got my butt up yesterday and hit the gym where I USED to do like 2 miles without stopping at about 5 mph. But then, for some reason I wasn't feeling it, and I didn't come again, and so now it feels like I have to start over again :/

RUNNING is AMAZING. Enough said.
It's like therapy for me. It's so amazing, it's how your mind and your body, your legs..it's amazing. The feel after you sit down and say "WOW. 2 miles. that's amazing."

Here are some tips from an EXPERIENCED, and FREQUENT runner (and what you'll need to get started):

For ALREADY runners:

-DO NOT stop running. Trust me, I've tried it. And boy it's starting from level one, aka 1 mile all over again. DO NOT stop running. If it's winter/fall, then go to a gym and run there. And in the summer, it doesn't really matter, but try to run outside. BUT with SUNSCREEN(: And if you can't run, then do YOGA, DANCE, JUMP ROPE..etc.

-STEP IT UP. You can't expect to see results if you just run a mile everyday. It's not a challenge for your body. You need to give it surprises. Maybe one day, it'll be a mile, and then the day after that, 3 miles, and then 2 miles...surprise yourself.
Don't let your body get accustomed to it. When your mind is bored, your BODY is bored.

-LISTEN to MUSIC. Listen to UPBEAT, EMINEM songs, songs that are empowering. I LOVE "Love the Way You Lie" by Eminem ft. Rhianna. It keeps me in the game, and it makes me feel like I'm powerful and my body can do the last lap.

-SAY IT TO YOURSELF. When your beginning your next lap, say to yourself "Hello Lap Number 5, here we go. You say your tough? Well, baby, I'm tougher." I know, it sounds lame, but just do it. It makes you feel greattt!!!

For BEGINNERS:

(all things that apply to expierened)

-Bring Water
You WILL get thirsty, and your throat will be yucky. Don't let that happen. get in the fluids by having some fine H20...and don't go for the Gatorade, they just have sugar and H2o, fine simple pure water will do amazing for your body.

-A towel
If you sweat excessively, then be sure to bring a towel to soak it all up! Sweating can feel really uncomfortable, and makes you want to stop to dry it off. And once you stop, you don't wanna get back on that track. Believe me. So a towel at hand is a good thing.

-Chew gum
Chew gum ONLY if you promise not to choke on it. I can't do a workout with gum, it keeps my saliva running so I don't get a yucky and dry throat(:

-If your gonna watch TV, then be sure it's on eye level.
If the TV is above your head, and you have to lift your head to watch it...Don't watch it! It's gonna put strain on your neck!

-Listen to Music (above category)

-Put your hair up
Haha trust me! You're not gonna like it if your hair is all over the place!

WHY RUN?

Running is really really really good for your body.
Especially your heart.
Your heart is like your ENGINE to your body.
It's something that makes you want to do the things that you want to do, chasing after your kids, or designing fashion clothing.

So it's worth taking care of.

Treat your body like a temple. (:

What are some amazing alternatives to running?

DANCING, SWIMMING, JUMP ROPE, RECREATION GAMES (AKA. BASKETBALL, SOCCER..ETC.) HULA HOOP, WALKING, YOGA

Don't be fooled! Hula Hoop burns A LOT of calories!

My favorites are Dancing, Walking, and YOGA. I loveee yoga(:
For the days that you just don't wanna hit the gym, and have a nice relaxing day, YOGA is the perfect match.

If you wanna try it out, you should first maybe get some dvds from your public library or something, just to see if you like it or not, before you purchase a dvd.

Well I really hope this helps guys!
Physical Activity is really important in this world!
And remember, treat that beautiful face and body of yours like a temple!!
