Oh nappy hair.
So what exactly is the definition of the term "nappy hair".
Well, this is my term: "When your hair doesn't really cooperate with you. Doesn't go with the flo."
I actually have an african american friend, who always says to me "man. why can't I have your hair, it looks so easily to style." she, herself has straightened chemically relaxed hair.
haha, and in fact, her hair listens to herself more than mine listens to me...they don't realize how lucky they are....haha
anywaysss, back to the segment!
okay, so here are some TIPS of the trade to get rid of that nappy hair of ours...
if you need this... :
VOLUME: check this link out (without heat!) : http://tsorain.blogspot.com/2010/11/how-to-get-volume-quick.html
-try to find some mousse for adding volume
SLEEK/straight: get some smoothing creams and rub it on your hair.
try to find some mousse for straight hair
another crazy tip: take a cream (even hand cream) and just polish the ends of your hair to polish and tame hair (it works!)
olive oil/coconut oil: take either oil and work it on your hair. it polishes, shines, and makes it sleek and ready to go
WAVY: you can curl it slightly if you wish
wash your hair at night, leave it in a bun (wet) and go to sleep. morning, it should be wavy. this trick works with dry hair too, but not as well. you can also put it in braids
try using products for instant wavy hair (garnier has one..) and follow the instructions to get the hair
CURLY: just use a curling iron (duh!) haha
use a mousse, (after washing your hair) that's designed for curls. put it in in, blowdry your hair. and hairspray or add finish cream to it.
use paper rollers, haha (I got that from yahoo answers...so thank you!)
wash your hair, and twist your hair in small sections. dry naturally; but if you are in a hurry, try drying it on cool on your hair dryer

i saw your deep conditioning hair mask.
ReplyDeleteare there any more homemade hair masks that are also good?
Sorry...took so long!
ReplyDeleteBut yes, you can try to put yogurt and an egg white. You can also just use eggs.
A popular one is a banana and avocado hair mask. Just mush the ingredients together, and just slather it all over your hair...root to end. The avocado has really good moisturizing properties as well.
You can also have a splash of olive oil or you can add honey or buttermilk for added benefits.
Hope this helps! And sorry once again, that I took this long!
