How to make eyeliner last longer

Eyeliner is a "tool" that many women use. Pretty basic and easy to apply; but making it last? Not so much. So here are some tips to making your eyeliner stay on all day...even when you come home from work.

1) Apply a eyelid primer. You don't have to go and buy a specific primer. Just dab some foundation or concealer on your eyes (This will act as the primer). Then if you wish; just lightly powder it.

2) Apply your eyeliner. If there is a lot of humidity, try using a sweat proof or waterproof eyeliner.

3) IMPORTANT: This is the KEY to making eyeliner last much longer. Take some eyeshadow (same color as eyeliner) and just dab it on your eyeliner. Don't smear it or draw it in a line, just dab it.

Why does that work?

Remember when they say that when you use a cream product, you have to lock it in with powder (ex: foundation then powder). The same rule applies here...and so the eyeshadow will ensure that the eyeliner will stay on much longer.

4) Another really good way is to take some powder and apply it under your eye. This will help your eyeliner stay where it's supposed to be(:

And that's it! I hope this helps you guys!

Review: NYC pencil eyeliner

The picture isn't really that nice, so sorry. But if you check out their link...it's a much detailed pic: http://www.newyorkcolor.com/products/eyes/eyeliners-pencils/classic-browliner-pencils

Okay, so let's see..

What?

The NYC (new york color) classic brow/liner pencils in jet black

PRO?

Cheap (99 cents), colors are a variety, smooth pencil

It's probably one of the cheapest eyeliners out there, but for the price the smoothness is amazing. They have a couple of other colors as well (7 colors total)

Con?

It wears off easily. If you are a person that puts only a thin line, this eyeliner may not do the trick for you. It'll probably smudge here and there, and even if you didn't put it on your bottom rim, it might even sneak here and there, and make your eyes look like there a mess.

What to do: Here's a little eyeliner trick. Be sure, doesn't matter if you are using an eyeliner from NYC or MAC, be sure to always tap some eyeshadow on the eyeliner you just applied. (Think of setting powder...we don't want any of our makeup to dissapear!) This will help the eyeliner stay in place more longer, and hopefully prevent any smudginess.

Rating?

3.5 / 5

I liked the smooth and everything, but it did wear off kinda quick. This will work fine if you use a thick line, but it won't work as well as Urban Decay or MAC.

Buying it again?

Haha yes, because I'm on a budget. I buy makeup with my own money, and I have to save up for my parents' birthdays and mother's and father's day. Other than that, I'm craving these headphones, so yeah...I'm saving up for a lot of things.

So, for now. This 99 cents pencil will do.

Recommend?

Yeah...
But don't expect it to work like MAC or NARS. If you're on a budget, this is definite yes.
However, if you are going to prom or some special occasion, try to use a better more "stay put" eyeliner.

Mmkay, hope this helps you guys! Take care!

EYELINER Tips & Tricks

Finding the perfect eyeliner shouldn't be too hard. You need two things in mind. 1) Natural or smokey? and 2) Eye color

1) First, off do you want a natural look or a smokey eye look? If you want a natural look, you should do a much thinner line. However, if you would like a smokey look, then you should have a thicker line, with eyeshadow and mascara (and maybe even false eyelashes)

Natural Eyeliner:

In this picture, Angelina Jolie definitely has eyeliner on. But if you look at the up most (first) picture, her eyeliner looks sooo much more natural compared to that.

For this look, you might need a black eyeliner and a brown one. You can see how the eyeliner appears thicker on one side than the starting. So just apply a thin layer, and then once you get in the middle, try to make a thicker one. Try to line close to your lashes, because it will give an illusion of your eyelashes looking thicker. (using the BLACK eyeliner)

Then for your lower rim, try a brown eyeliner to make for a much natural look. For long lasting eyeliner, take eyeshadow and just tap it on your eyeliner, so the eyeliner doesn't smudge or wear off easily.

You can also apply some beige/golden/brownish eyeshadow to create that natural soft look.

Smokey look:

1) Wash your whole eyelid with a nice white/apricot eyeshadow (regardless of your skin tone)

2) Take a gray/steel color and wash HALF of your lid with that. Then take a nice shimmer apricot bright color and color the other half. Now kind of mix them together.

3) Now for you crease, take the gray and just smudge some on the crease

4) Take the the apricot and tap some on your brow bone.

5) Apply a really thick line of eyeliner. Using liquid eyeliner will be the best, to create the dark, crisp look.

6) Apply about 2 coats of mascara

7) Apply false eyelashes if you wish

(there are sooo many more eyeshadow colors for smokey eyes!)

ALSO, here are some ways to MAKE SURE your eyeliner stays put....so no more smudges or raccoon eyes:
http://tsorain.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-make-eyeliner-last-longer.html

Quick Tip: Try using NAVY eyeliner. It makes the whites of your eyes look whiter, and your eyes will be brighter!

Another Quick Tip: Try taking your eye color and finding the color of it opposite on the color wheel, and use that color as your eyeliner. They are complementary colors, and they will make your eyes POP!

So I hope now, that eyeliner isn't as hard as it was before.
Good luck!

And take care!
