Warm or Cool Undertones?

Finding a good foundation, powder..., anything base makeup; can be much easier to find when you know your undertones.

Normally, there are two undertones that are classified in the makeup world:
warm- yellow
cool-pink

And if you know which one really is YOU, then it'll be easier finding foundation, powder...etc. , that TRULY match with your skin tone, and make you glow even more. So here are some easy 'tests' that can help determine which undertone you are.

VEIN TEST

Look at the veins in your wrist/hand..etc. If they are... :
-More blue:  COOL (pink)
-More green: WARM (yellow)

SUN EXPOSURE

What happens when you go out in the sun without sunscreen?

-Burn easily: (probably) COOL (pink)
-Tan easily: (probably) WARM (yellow)

GOLD OR SILVER

Try putting anything gold on you. Whether it be a liner, a bracelet, necklace...etc. Now put something silver to it. Which one looks better on you, and which ones give it a certain 'glow'?

-Gold : (probably) WARM (yellow)
-Silver: (probably) COOL (pink)

What does this mean?

Now that you know your undertone, it can help find the kind of colors and shades that will flatter you best.

If you are COOL (PINK)

Foundation- try to find a foundation with pink undertones. (in mac it's the NW collection)

Eyeshadow- cool, jewel tones would probably look best on you like; blues, violets, greens...etc.

Blush- a nice rosy, pink blush :)

If you are WARM (YELLOW)

Foundation: try finding a foundation with a rich yellow (olive/brown..etc) base. (in mac it's the NC collection)

(you have a yellow undertone, but does your foundation have a pinkish undertone...(maybe) making you look too white, pale, or ashy? no worries...it's fixable. Click here:

Eyeshadow: A lot of earth tones and metals. Like gold, burnt red, browns, copper...etc.

Blush: try staying to peachy (try coral if your tanner)...it'll look amazing :)

Here is also another really good chart I found on the web.

hope this helps, and take care :)

PERFECT, NATURAL FOUNDATION LOOK

Okay, I'll admit it. I am really jealous of that model above. Her skin looks so balanced and perfect...it looks so natural.

BUT just because you have discoloration, acne, acne scars, dark circles..etc. , doesn't mean that everybody has to know about them. So here are some tips to getting a NATURAL, FLAWLESS, foundation look.

1) THE RIGHT SHADE

To get the 'natural' look, you have to make sure your face matches your neck, chest...etc. So you gotta pick the right shade of foundation.

-Test the foundation at your jawline. This is the place where your neck and face 'meet', so it'll probably give you the most accurate tone of your foundation. Whichever foundation matches and almost dissapears next to your skin, is probably your match.

-Try investing in a high end foundation brand. If you pick the right one for you, it should do the job pretty well, and give you a beautiful finish as well.

-If you are at a drugstore, obviously its not so easy to test the foundations. Try going to a high end foundation store and try finding the right shade. (But don't rely on the store lighting! Try stepping out in natural light to make sure it's your skin tone) Then ask the clerk if you can have a sample of it to try home. And then you could always come back and try to match the color at the store.

(Whoopsss! Is your foundation too light? Here's how to fix that and get a natural look regardless: http://tsorain.blogspot.com/2012/05/if-your-foundation-is-too-light.html )

2) BRUSH VS. HANDS
So you've probably seen makeup artists just blend their foundation quickly with their palms, and some blending it with a brush.

You can pick literally any way you like.

Palm- if your just looking for a quick cover of foundation, this is the way to go. Also the heat from your hands, warm up the foundation, causing it to blend a little better. You can also reach places where the brush can't blend as well.

Brush- to give a more flawless finish. It makes the look a bit more matte and is probably a better way to get the 'natural' look, because the look looks more matte and softer.

You can also combine them. You can first just apply real quick with your hands, then buff it out and blend it a bit better with the brush! :)

3) POWDER

Usually a clean face is pretty much matte (except for oily skin people though). But dusting some quick powder makes the look a bit more natural and soft.

And it locks in the foundation...so it'll last a bit longer too.

4) COLOR

A clean, natural face doesn't look like a cartoon face. It has tones of color here and there, which make the face come more 'alive' and glowing.

-BRONZER POWDER

Try taking some bronzer powder and applying a bit at your cheekbones, your temples, and the jawline. The places where the sun naturally hits your face.

Don't go overboard with it though! (make sure that your face still kind of matches your neck, chest..etc.)

But here are some tips for bronzing powder:

-BLUSH

Blush can also make you look more awake and alive. But, same with the bronzer powder, a little goes a long way. Just apply a little bit of a hint of blush rather than a completely flushed look...you don't want to make it completly obvious that you're wearing blush.

Here are some tips to getting the right shade of blush for you AND how to apply it the right way:

So yeah. Hopefully this gets you to your perfect, flawless, natural looking foundation :)

Hope this helps, and take care

Why do girls wear so much makeup?

That's what lot of people ask...especially guys who don't understand why that one girl at lunch or down the street looks like a oompa loompa everytime he sees her.

But that's not say that guys are the only ones saying this. You probably already know that there are many girls who always diss other girls by saying "wow, it seems like she put on a pound of makeup" or "b****, I can wipe 90% of your "beauty" with a wet tissue".

First off, if you are wearing a smokey eye with bright blush, with red lips. yes, that is way too much. And honestly, I would probably diss someone who wears that kind of look. It's cool for 'once in a while' thing, but if thats your everyday makeup routine...it probably would be better to tone it down just a bit. Like I said, I'm not a professional makeup artist...but thats not exactly "natural"...atleast in my book.

And also for the girls that are ivory or pale...and then apply a LOT of bronzer or tanning bronze on their face...please calm down with all that. If you do wanna look tanner, you can still use it, just make sure that your body color (neck, chest..etc.) match. Yeah, but no matter WHAT skin tone you are...just embrace it. It's who you are :)

Anyways, here is the basic reasons:

1) MAKEUP enhances natural beauty. well, if your wearing the right amount. Your beautiful cheekbones shine a little bit better. Your eyes look more awake. Your lips look more kissable.

2) IMPERFECTIONS. I know that nowadays, they say 'imperfections' are beautiful. and IT'S TRUE. IT IS. But we all know that the world doesn't work that way. I have a lot of acne scars, blemishes, and discoloration. One quick layer of foundation does the job pretty well. And truth be told, if I didn't wear that foundation, I would probably walk the school hallways with my head down. It gives me confidence, to keep my head up, and smile. It gives me confidence, I open up to people more, and it gives me more opportunities to smile.

The funny thing, is that all the girls that diss people with makeup, probably have perfect skin...or don't have acne everywhere. and that's the thing. they don't know what its like to have acne ALL OVER YOUR FACE. Or discoloration. or dark circles. So I'm just saying, if you have clear skin...or pretty much clear skin, and your dissin people that wear a lot of foundation/concealer...I'm just saying, you might not know what it feels like to have things all over your face.

But I do admit...sometimes I don't understand why people with already, 'no makeup' natural face have perfect skin...and they pile on like 3 layers of foundation. If you have pretty good skin already, don't use the foundation to cover it all up! Haha, your already so blessed with beautiful skin! Try using a little less to make you look more awake and glowing...but don't cover it all up (:

So yeah. I dunno...I just kinda felt like posting this one. just for some random reason i guess.

smile <3

Ace of the Face: Cheeks

Accenting your cheeks and cheekbones can give truly a gorgeous, radiant glow. So here is my Pretty Little version of the Allure's Best of Beauty List...minus all the expensive products.

These products are actual AFFORDABLE, DRUGSTORE brands that won't break the bank.

POWDER BLUSH:

Maybelline Fit Me Blush

It's your perfect, regular, everyday blush. Beautiful colors consist of colors that will fit anyone(:

CREAM BLUSH

NYC Blushable Creme Stick

Easy to apply, beautiful colors, and super quick to apply. These blush creme sticks are cheap too...their only $4. They have 6 colors; but they all suit every beautiful tone.

P.S. Need blush but don't have any? Well try taking your average red lipstick and just tap a teeennyy tiny bit on your cheeks. There you go..the same effect!

HIGHLIGHTER

Wet 'n Wild Mega-Glo Illuminating Powder

This amazing illuminating powder (highlighter) is great for your regular highlights at the cheekbones, brow bone, the nose, and the cupid's bow (upper lip). Amazing powder...at a price you can't beat(:

P.S. You can also use your regular eyeshadow for highlighting(:

FACIAL SELF- TANNER

Loreal Sublime Bronze Self - Tanning Lotion

I'll be honest to you guys...I'm not the best person to talk to about tanning. I actually have an olive - ish skin tone; so I don't tan at all (or use self tanning). However, my friend Lauren does; and she always uses this in the summer. So this one was all thanks to Lauren(:

And if you are looking for a "gradual" tan; try the Jergens Natural Glow lotions.

BRONZER

NYC Sun 2 Sun Bronzing Powder

This has been really popular (several great ratings) and it gets a great rating from me (and Lauren! :D ) . It's pretty cheap compared to other brands; and it's your simple, basic bronzing powder that does it's job. Everyone's skin tone changes throughout the year; so you have 2 shades to keep your covered (: How awesome?

I hope this helps! (I know...this one was short!)

How to get makeup to look "dewy"

We have all seen models and celebrities always with flawless makeup, and having that really beautiful "dewy" beautiful glow to them. So how exactly do you achieve that look?

1) Apply a moisturizer before you start. This will help seal in moisture, and prevent any dry skin from seeing through.

2) Apply your makeup as normal.

3) When you are setting your makeup with setting powder (your finishing touch), be sure to not overuse. Use just a very light coat, and don't powder over your cheeks. This will leave your cheeks moisturized and dewy.

4) If your dewy cheeks are still not achieved, then take some of your moisturizer, and lightly pat it on your cheeks.

And that's it! I hope this helps you guys!

MUST HAVES Checklist for Prom

That time of the year is coming once again...
Dance, Proms, graduations, parties, field trips...and of course summer!

Well, I'm actually going to a dance, and so I wondered...it would be pretty helpful if I kind of had a check list as I was getting ready for the dance. I picked up my notebook and started making one. After that, I decided...Why not share it with you guys?

So we're going to go "head to toe" (hopefully I get everything!) :

-HAIR. => How should I style it? Do I have the products needed? Should I wash that day, or the night before? Up or down?

-FACIAL => Do I want a facial? Should I go do a DIY facial or at salon?

-WAXING => Did I remember to wax upper lip...etc.?

-MAKEUP = > (super super big!) WHAT ARE MY MAKEUP LOOKS?

-BODY => Tip: No matter if your dance is one month or one day away; start drinking lots of water! Water will remove any toxins from your skin...which gives beautiful, radiant skin.

=> Again, no matter if you are one month or one day, I would highly suggest doing yoga or pilates before your dance. It will help tone your muscles.

TIP: For example, if your dress is strapless, try doing a lot of moves with ARMS to get toned arms. Or if you're wearing a mini dress, try getting moves with legs.

SKIN => Use a good good good body scrub before the dance! After that, moisturize intensively!

ShapeWear => If you are planning to wear shapewear with your dress, then make sure it fits you perfectly...and that no one can see that your wearing it!

PURSE => Do I have everything I need in my purse? http://tsorain.blogspot.com/2011/05/whats-in-prom-purse.html

NAILS => Am I going to the salon to get my nails done? Am I using artificial nails?

MANI/PEDI => Do I want a manicure and pedicure before the dance? Do I have my appointment? Or am I giving myself a DIY manicure/pedicure?

TAN => Do I want a tan? So should I spray tan (recommend) or go actually get a tan?

DRESS => Are you pleased with your dress?

I hope that you guys enjoyed this!

Here's a little tip: Prepare for the Worst.

Make sure you have everything you possibly need in your purse (if it fits!), ...but the key to having a great event is to just smile and have fun!

So what if your makeup came off, or your hair is nappy, or your arms are flabby, or if you have zits..? JUST SMILE...LAUGH, AND HAVE A GOOD TIME !

When people see you...your smile is the absolute first thing that people see first! If your happy...then their attention won't go to your imperfections...it'll stay at the smile!

Sorry if that was confusing...but have fun! haha!

celebrate!
