How to wash your face...the right way

Another how to, huh?

Anyways, this is probably the best method (that works for me) that I've learned to clean my face. This will actually make sure that you get all the makeup, dirt, and oils off your face after a long day.

I definetly wanna give a huge thanks to a skin care clerk at the mall. I was just looking at some products, when she came over and we got in a discussion...and she shared this way to clean your face. So thanks to her :)

Basically,  You're going to cleanse your face two times.

So first, take the normal amount of cleanser/scrub you normally take and cut it in half. Then just cleanse your skin normally. This first cleanse will take the makeup, oil...etc., just off the surface. Then just rinse.

Then again, take a bit of your cleanser and cleanse/exfoliate your skin again. THIS cleanse will actually get in your pores to actually get dirt and oil out of it...scrubbing away dead skin cells, and revealing beautiful, glowing skin. And then just rinse, and continue with your normal procedure.

This method will also improve the effectiveness of your cleanser :) More bang for your buck :)

And like I said, just try taking your normal amount of product, and use half of it for the first cleanse, and the other for the second cleanse. This will make sure you don't run out of cleanser too fast :)

hope this helps, and take care :)

Want amazing skin? Try Lemons!

Lemons, lemons, lemons!

How can such a simple fruit be so amazing to skin?

Why does a lemon work?:

-It has AHAs and BHAs (natural chemicals) that get the dead, dull skin cells out, and reveal beautiful, glowing skin.

...that of course helps get beautiful skin, and if used overtime, it can also help with discoloration.

How to Prepare:

What you need:

-lemons (lime is also acceptable...but lemons are preferred)
-olive oil (extra virgin)
-sugar (brown or regular...both will work)

Cut your lemon in half, spritz some olive oil on it, and top it off with some sugar. After that, just scrub it on your face!

Rinse with cold water to close pores, and remember to moisturize intensively afterwards!

Story Time!

This is a REAL story! I have some discolored skin around my eye area, and any amount of foundation, concealer...still doesn't help.

I have tried this lemon trick, everyday, for a couple of days, and I've noticed that, that area has slowly coming back to normal skin.

I hope this helps you guys! Summer is almost here...so I suppose it's time to get wonderful skin! Have fun!

Ace of the Face: Base Makeup

Base makeup is referring to primer, foundation, concealer, setting powder...things like that; that are used to perfect and make skin glow.

But since everyone has different needs from their base makeup, and everyone has different skin, it's important that whatever foundation and concealer you use; go in harmony with your need of coverage and your skin type.

PRIMER

L'Oréal Paris Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base

This is the only primer you'll ever need, literally. This primer is perfect for teens, moms, and even women over 40. Why? It covers pores and fills in wrinkles, creating a gorgeous canvas ready! And...Allure has also chosen this!

FOUNDATION -- LIGHT COVERAGE

Almay Nearly Naked Liquid Foundation

almay_06large/28582_large.jpg
This is it. If your just starting to wear foundation; or if you are one of those who just want a light coverage; then this is it. It is really...nearly naked, and it doesn't even feel like you have makeup on. It's just the right amount...gives you coverage, and leaves a nice amount of dewyness.

FOUNDATION --- MEDIUM COVERAGE

Loreal True Match Liquid Foundation

My friend is a makeup artist, and she deals with department store and high end foundations all day long. But, she loves this, and she says it's definitely department store worthy!

It's true; this foundation is really the complete package. It has like a zillion shades, so you get covered no matter what; and it covers to a point where it doesn't cake, but it does hide your little imperfections!

FOUNDATION--- OILY SKIN

Cover Girl Clean Liquid Foundation, Oil Control

This foundation is pretty lightweight, and it has oil absorbers. So if you have oily skin, this will keep it all in control...without completely drying out your skin.

MINERAL FOUNDATION

Loreal Bare Natural Mineral Foundation

I'm not a fan of mineral makeup, because I have super dry skin already; and mineral makeup just makes more patchiness and dry skin.

However, I'm pleased with this product. It doesn't dry out skin too much...and it gives a nice, natural look.

TINTED MOISTURIZER

Wet 'n Wild Tinted Moisturizer

Cheap, great coverage, and adjusting shades. What more can you ask? This tinted moisturizer is about $5-7 in drugstores, and it has great coverage. Bottom line: Covers like a foundation, feels like a tinted moisturizer. You might be thinking...does it only have 4 shades? Well yes, but those shades adjust to your tone! (review on this in review tab)

PRESSED POWDER

Maybelline Fit Me pressed powder

I'm in love with their new line! Their shades really do fit any tone; and this powder is perfect. There are no oil, no waxes, nothing. It fives you nice, flawless skin.

CONCEALER

Maybelline Dream Matte Concealer

This is my favorite concealer in the world. It covers your dark circles well, and it doesn't settle in fine lines. It also covers blemishes, and goes great in harmony with any foundation and powder.

That's it! That was ACE OF THE FACE: BASE MAKEUP. I hope you guys liked it! And email me at tsorain@gmail.com, if you have any questions/suggestions.

Summer Time Skin Routine!

Where I live, there's no more snow, and it's always about 60-70 degrees during the afternoon. Summer is also the time where my skin gets more irritated (UGH!) and where a struggle to keep skin cool happens.

Well, I checked out some skin care things around the web, and I put together a grand finale piece that has been doing me good.... :

MORNING:

This is one of the weirdest cleansers, but it works amazingly...

If the link doesn't work, go to the 'skin care' tab and scroll down to the very last

EVENING:

This is when I come home from school.

Use OLIVE OIL to take off my makeup ( just take a cotton ball, with some drops of olive oil, and apply it on your face in circular motions)

Rub CUCUMBERS on my face real quick, just to cool down and reduce any puffiness

Put PLAIN YOGURT on my face for about 10-15 minutes, and then rinse it off. (to keep the skin supple and cool everyday). I use a new art brush to apply the yogurt on my face, since it can carefully reach in places my hands can't..

Moisturize with Olive Oil, Coconut oil, or Eucerin. And then lock it in with petroleum jelly, so my skin doesn't become dehydrated.

It sounds (kinda) like a complicated routine, but it's really quite simple. I use sunscreen before I put on my primer, even though my foundation has SPF.

I can't live without: My everyday yogurt mask.
Without that, my skin would be all puffy and red all over...

I hope this helps some of you guys with summer, and it's skin time. I personally, have found out, that I get better skin with natural skin care. If YOU have any cool techniques or homemade recipes/ideas PLEASE email them to tsorain@gmail.com

I'll post it on here!

So tsorain@gmail.com <--- mail it!

lOVE! (:

DIY NATURAL ZIT ZAPPER

Psssssss
Check your kitchen!

So you wake up to a beautiful morning, and when you look in the mirror....you notice. a. a. ZIT. Yikes! Nobody likes to wake up with a zit that's fire engine red and the size of Mt. Everest.

And even worse, what if you don't have any "3 hour acne medication" stuff, or ran out of it?

Well, no worries. Because...just check your kitchen!

What you need:

-yeast powder
-lemon juice

Twinlab Brewers Yeast

-Now just mix the ingredients well enough to make a nice paste. then take a cotton swab, dip, and dab it on your zit/blemish.

(If you don't have any yeast powder, then you can try using cornstarch)

Why these ingredients?

The yeast (or cornstrach) is good to dry out the zit/blemish.

And the lemon juice has good stuff that takes all the bad stuff out of those zits. (like AHAs, and BHAs)

And I'm guessing that it would probably work best if you leave it on longer. So try going to sleep with this. But even if you only have 15 minutes...etc,; try it, 15 minutes is better than nothing (:

** And if you have REALLY REALLY sensitive skin, just make sure the lemon juice won't irritate your skin!

Some other good remedies:

-ASPIRIN. Take some aspirin, crush it in water; and apply to your face. Aspirin is a good anti-inflammatory agent which helps get the redness out of zits/blemishes.

-ADVIL LIQUI GELS. This is a new 'idea'/trick coming out right now. Just open a capsule and apply it on the pimple.

-HONEY. Just take some honey and apply it on the pimple (or you can do a full face mask). Honey has natural anti-bacterial properties that will help get rid of the pimple much sooner.

Also, here are some tips to camouflage any blemishes/acne with makeup:

Hope this helps! Good Luck
and take care

How to HIDE dark circles

Yeah, you can dot some concealer right under your eyes and you will get coverage.

But what about if you have REALLY dark circles?

Then this method is fo you! btw, I learned this method from my friend Susan, who is an aspiring makeup artist. so thank you susan!

What you need:

-Good concealer one that is lighter than your foundation (your regular concealer)

-a concealer of your own skin tone, or foundation

Golden Rule (in this case atleast):

-foundation first
-concealer second
-powder third

I suggest using a good creamy concealer that is lighter than your foundation. A good one form the high end is Laura mercier secret camouflage and cover fx. Some good ones from the cheap ends would probably be cover girl

** The directions might seem kinda complicated at first sight...sorry about that, so please try to hang in there! (: The method actually really works!

Okay, so let's look at your under eye/upper cheekbones. Take your concealer (with a concealer brush or however) and draw a right triangle.

Okay, so this is the right triangle you need to draw

The diagram will work on your LEFT eye, but all you have to do is just flip/reflect this triangle for your RIGHT eye.

DRAW (with the concealer):

-Segment XY is the segment that goes in a horizontal line (right below your eyes) Inner corner of your eye, to the outer corner, or wherever your dark circles end.

-Segment YZ is the segment that goes from the inner corner (where XY started/ended) down, being parallel to your nose (right by your nose) It should stop where your dark circles stop, or for better coverage, at the level of your nostrils.

-Segment XZ is the connecting segment (the diagonal line that connects the end of XY and YZ together. So it's kinda on your cheekbones).

** If this is a bit confusing, first off sorry! But from the computer, just draw a right triangle exactly like the diagram above, of your LEFT eye. And then reflect it for your right eye.

Now that you have your right triangle, take a brush or your fingers and blend them together. (shade it IN the triangle)

Blend it in very very very very well into your foundation (which you should have already applied)

And now, take your concealer that is about the same color as your foundation. Lightly just go over the area that you applied with this, so that area doesn't look too brightened up.

And remember to SET the concealer with some setting powder so the concealer stays in place!

Try to use transcluent setting powder, because it has no pigments and won't mess up your makeup..

Well, I hope this helps you guys with any of your under eye problems!

lOVE, have a beautifullll gorgeouss day!

FLAWLESS MAKEUP

Everyone has imperfections; whether it be the zit of Mt. Everest, discoloration, or blemishes, puffiness...redness....

So I mean come on... no one has perfect skin. But...let's try to FAKE a flawless face...so you look like Oh la la, someone's in town!

Okay, so here are the products that you need....:

-Primer

-Foundation/Tinted Moisturizer (whatever you prefer)

- Conceal

-Setting Powder (or pressed powder)

-Lip color

-Bronzer (and blush if you wish)

-Eyeliner (if you wish)

Let's start off with PRIMER...

What is a primer first off....
It's like a barrier that keeps your makeup OFF you skin. As in, not letting your makeup sinking into your skin.

it does 3 main things..:

a) gives you a flawless canvas
b) helps create a barrier between your skin and makeup....(to makeup not sink in)
c) your makeup will stay on FOREVER

If you have fine lines and wrinkles; then try using a primer with silicone. It will fill in those wrinkles/fine lines in, so your foundation and other makeup don't settle in, and accent them even more.

For a primer, you don't need much. A little goes a longgg way.

Some good primers:

Cheap End: rimmel london fix and perfect primer
High End: Urban Decay Primer Potion

FOUNDATIONS:

Okay, so when it comes to foundation, think of a cheerleading pyramid. if you base isn't strong, then your other's aren't going to turn out well. In the same way, if you don't apply and pick your foundation, your face won't look flawless.

Here's the link to my Foundation 101 Bootcamp: http://tsorain.blogspot.com/2011/01/foundation-101.html

if certain areas of your skin are red, then to cancel it, make sure you get a foundation that is YELLOWER than your skin color to cancel that out.

cheap end: loreal true match/rimmel foundations/almay foundations
High end: Laura Mercier

CONCEALER

Concealer is your very best bet for covering up imperfects.
Concealer just be creamy, and very well pigmented, that way it will blend it in just right.

here is a link to cover up dark circles VERY WELL :

With the concealer, make sure you have nice pigments, and if you want to cancel the redness in zits, think the opposite of the color wheel. GREEN. and that's where that color concealer comes in.

Cheap ones: loreal true match super blendable concealer
High ends: laura mercier secret camouflage (5 stars!!) and bobbi brown concealers, and cover fx concealers

BRONZERS

Bronzers are used to add more depth (contouring) and warmth to a face. You can contour very well with bronzers, to make your face look more slender (and sometimes make you look 5 pounds lighter!), and it can make your face look more dimensional and add in more depth.

here's a link for how to CONTOUR correctly (sorry if the link isn't here yet...working on it....)

cheap ones: Physician's Formula cashmere wear bronzer
high ends: smashbox bronzer lights

SETTING POWDER:

Setting Powder is super super important for a flawless face. A flawless face shouldn't just last 5 minutes. It should last atleast 6 hours. And if you don't set it, all that hard work of foundation, concealer and all that will just dissapear....

So MAKE SURE you set! Thankfully, it's the easiest step to do, so if you did forget it, you can quickly press some on.

Make sure your powder is Translucent powder, because it has no pigment or colors, so it won't mess with your hard work of makeup...

Some cheap ones: revlon photo ready translucent powder, e.l.f. setting powder
high ends: laura mercier setting powder, makeup forever

LIP COLOR AND EYELINER:

Pick your colors! make sure to line your lips with a lipliner so your lips will get more definition. and for your eyes...if you are getting boring with black eyeliner, then try brown or green!

NAVY BLUE eyeliner makes your eye brighter! (: jus. saying!

BLUSH:

Hmm...don't have much to say....except here's the Blush 101 link:

Hopefully...it will walk you right through it...

Okay, so hope you guys now know how to get your easy flawless face! About 10 minutes!

HIGHLIGHTING TIPS AND TRICKS

Highlighting Boot Camp is in!

You guys see how this model has radiant cheekbones and the nose? And see how it just catches in the light?

Well...guess what? You can get that same supermodel look...real easy, and real fast!

What you're going to need:

-a brush
-CREAM highliter (without shimmer)
-powder (to set it in)

(try getting a highlighter without shimmer, because that ruins the whole 'maybe she's born with it' part :) it just ruins the 'maybe natural' look)

A great one is Pearl (or shell) from MAC:

Applying:

-Just take some in your fingers and gently pat it on your cheekbones and the bridge of your nose.

-Then just squeeze your brush (into a flat angle) and dip it in the powder. Then just pat it where you applied your highlighter. This will help set it and make sure the look lasts :)

Anyways, hope this helps & take care!
